Acting as loving protector and shepherd of the Irish people, you provided Emergency Services during times of siege and famine. You nursed the wounded in your home, provided the sacraments to the dying, buried the dead with your own hands, and tirelessly worked to bring peace and stem the bloodshed. You opened your home to children who were orphaned through those turbulent times, and served as a leader in the Church while maintaining your humble lifestyle of self-denial and sacrifice. Help us to follow your example of caring generously for the needs of God's children. Amen
Through our offices in Lincoln, Hastings and Auburn, Catholic Social Services distributes cash assistance to needy individuals for utilities, rent and deposits, medicines, and other needed items. In addition, this program may spring into action at a moment’s notice when a great need presents itself. An example of this is the tragedy of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. CSS coordinated a drop-off point for items to be collected, and then secured a semi-truck to deliver many items so generously provided by donors in our diocese.
