“I was a stranger and you welcomed me…”
A refugee is someone who has had to flee his or her home country due to the threat of political, ethnic or religious persecution. Our refugee resettlement program works with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the U. S. Department of State to resettle approximately 120 legal refugees every year. We assist new arrivals with housing, education, employment and cultural orientation so they can become self-sufficient as soon as possible. We also provide employment services for “secondary migrant” refugees who move to Lincoln after initially being resettled in a different area.
