Weekly Wellness: "5 Minute Mental Health Checklist"

Happy Mental Health Monday! During February, we'll be sharing the "Weekly Wellness" series developed by IHMCC Mental Health Therapy Intern Jillian Giesselmann, B.A. for our St. Gianna Women's Homes (SGWH) residents.

Today's topic, "5 Minute Mental Health Checklist" is a simple and effective daily tool that only takes a few moments to complete.

Often, our mental health consists of our basic everyday needs. When we lack one of our basic needs, other areas of our daily life start to seem "off" and eventually can feel out of control.

The things that can help us feel grounded and stable are daily tasks we occasionally fall behind on.

Here is a quick 5-minute checklist you can do every day:

  •  Have I eaten regular meals?
  •  Have I showered?
  •  Am I getting enough sleep?
  •  Have I been thinking kind thoughts to myself?
  •  Have I spent time outside in fresh air?
  •  Have I been comparing my real life to other people's highlight reel?
  •  Have I connected with someone I love?
  •  Have I moved my body today?
